In ye olden days, parents of a betrothed couple would hold a grand soirée announcing the upcoming nuptials to the whole village. Save the date invitations were unheard of and probably unnecessary – families of this time didn’t have The Super Bowl or latest final of So You Think You Can Dance to contend with, after all!

But in these here modern times, save the date cards are a much-needed kick in the pants to your guests! And much more polite than ‘If you want to remain my friend and avoid the wrath that is Bridezilla you WILL attend the wedding on date that I TELL YOU’! Wedding save the date cards are much more manners methinks.

Save the date invitations should ideally mirror your style, reflecting your personalities and the ‘vibe’ of your big day. Using a handy save the date template is a good way of approaching this task.

Truly, a save the date wedding definitely one-ups hiring a town crier or sacrificing the safety of one more delivery pigeon…in my most humble of opinions anyway :)
